Lamsa bible controversy

Lamsa Bible, which was translated from Aramaic instead of Greek, a better translation than all the rest. They say Aramaic, not Greek, is the original language of the Bible. The Lamsa Bible was translated from Syriac Aramaic which is closer to the Aramaic spoken by the people of Jesus time, than Greek. This view is not mainstream and certainly controversial among fundamentalist Christians. For example, on this page by Chick Publications the Lamsa Bible is called "perverted" and "occult", part of a conspiracy to subvert Christianity. This reflects the view of many Christians out there. But what if the opposite is true - that the Bible was mistranslated and even changed, some by accident but some with manipulative intent. Looking into this only peripherally, I was surprised to find such huge discrepancies amongst translations.

What follows are a few side by side comparisons that make the Lamsa Bible look more accurate.

Mathew 24:7

King James Bible : Jesus says: "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?"

Lamsa Bible: Jesus says: "My God, My God, for this I was spared!"

Comment: Jesus, having predicted that he would be beaten, would most not likely say that God has forsaken him. It makes no sense in that context.

Ephesians 6:12

Bible, New International Version: "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms".

Lamsa: "For your conflict is not only with flesh and blood, but also with the angels, and with powers, with the rulers of this world of darkness, and with the evil spirits under the heaven".

This, of course, completely changes the meaning of the text. The Lamsa version shows that the spiritual struggle is ALSO one with flesh and blood.

Lamsa:

KJ: "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle..."

Lamsa: "It is easier for a rope to go through the eye of a needle"

Comment: The Aramaic word for "Camel" and "Rope" are the same. This proves that whoever translated it to Greek, most likely used the wrong translation, as "rope" makes much more sense in this context.

Mathew 7:3:

KJ: Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?

Lamsa: Why do you look at the splinter in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?

Comment: Notice how "splinter" and "plank" are a better match.

Luke 14:25

NIV: "If any one comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters, yes even his own life, he can not be My disciple".

Lamsa: "He who comes to Me and does not put aside his father and his mother and his brothers and his sisters and his wife and his children and even his own life can not be a disciple to me".

Comment: Note how the regular bible asks you to hate and the Lamsa bible to "put aside".

Elaborating, Raman said Jagjit Singh Chauhan, a Sikh leader from Punjab, went to the UK and took over the leadership of the defunct Sikh Home Rule movement and renamed it after Khalistan.
The then Pakistani military ruler Yahya Khan invited Chauhan to Pakistan, "lionised" him as a leader of Sikhs and handed over some Sikh holy relics kept in Pakistan, which Chauhan took to the UK to win a following in the Sikh diaspora.
Chauhan also went to New York, met officials of the United Nations and some American journalists and alleged human rights violations of Sikhs in India.
"These meetings were discreetly organised by officials of the US National Security Council Secretariat then headed by (Henry) Kissinger," the former R&AW officer says.
"With American and Pakistani encouragement, the activities of Chauhan continued till 1977. After the defeat of Indira Gandhi in the elections in 1977 and the coming to power of a government headed by Morarji Desai, Chauhan abruptly called off his so-called Khalistan movement and returned to India," writes Raman.
Observing that foreign intelligence agencies were not helpful in providing information on Sikh extremist activities in their respective countries, he says the political leadership of western countries like the UK, the US and Canada, which has sizeable Sikh population, did not want to antagonise them by cooperating with the Indian government against the Khalistanis.
Giving an example of "non-cooperation", he refers to the authorities in the then West Germany.
He says Talwinder Singh Parmar of Babbar Khalsa, a sacked sawmill worker in Vancouver in Canada who was wanted in several cases in India like the Nirankari massacre and had been making "threatening" statements against Indira Gandhi, was arrested while travelling from Zurich to West Germany following an INTERPOL alert.
The German authorities not only did not hand him over to a CBI team, which had rushed to Bonn to take him into custody, but sent him back to Vancouver.
Two years later, Parmar played an active role in the conspiracy, which led to the blowing up of the Air India plane 'Kanishka' killing over 300 passengers, the retired R&AW official says adding, "the West German authorities cannot escape a major share of responsibility for this colossal tragedy."
On the storming of the Golden Temple in June 3-6, 1984, Raman writes that as Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his followers started gathering arms inside the complex and a spurt in terrorist incidents was witnessed across the country, there was "panic" in the government when trans-border sources of IB and R&AW reported that ISI was infiltrating Pakistani ex-servicemen and some serving Pakistani armymen into Punjab.
However, these IB and R&AW reports were later proved wrong, he says.
But the "alarm" led Indira Gandhi to frantically find a political solution and to use Akali Dal leaders to pursuade Bhindranwale to vacate the temple.
"Rajiv Gandhi and two of his associates held a number of secret meetings with Akali leaders in a New Delhi guest house of the R&AW. I was given the task of making arrangements for these meetings, recording the discussions, transcribing them and putting up the transcripts to (Rameshwar Nath) Kao for briefing Indira Gandhi," Raman said.
Kao was then the senior advisor to the prime minister.
Maintaining that the talks failed to persuade Akali leaders to see reason and cooperate with the government, he said, "The transcripts, which were kept in the top secret archives of the R&AW, were very valuable records of historic value.
"They showed how earnestly Indira Gandhi tried to avoid having to send the Army into the Golden Temple," he said.
Raman also elaborated on the pros and cons of the army raid, called Operation Blue Star, its impact on the sentiments of the armymen as well as the Sikhs.

Apart from the many deaths directly from the firing, a number of deaths were caused by stampedes at the narrow gates as also people who sought shelter from the firing by jumping into the solitary well inside the compound. Back in his headquarters, General Dyer reported to his superiors that he had been 'confronted by a revolutionary army'.

Since the official figures were likely flawed considering the size of the crowd (15,000-20,000), close firing-range, number of rounds fired and period of firing, the INC instituted a separate inquiry of its own, coming to conclusions that differed considerably from the Government's. The casualty figure quoted by the INC was more than 1,500, with roughly 1,000 killed. Our mind is like a analysing and recording unit and also a processor of information and it stores all this information in the form of chemical reaction and the reaction products.

whenever you feel 'Fear' ,it means a chem reaction has begun in your body which reduces your blood flow and consumes up your oxygen ,thereby reducing your I.Q level and your lateral intelligence (thinking).

Subjecting the mind to such fears at regular intervals produces a byproduct which acts as a drug to soothe the pain (caused by chemical reaction)

guys,about two years ago i had a verbal fight with a white guy about which race was superior.

The next target of my anti religious ire will be The Neo-Pagan and Pagan religions particularly from Europe.
The neo-pagan group looks like .......the followers will take any path of paganism and twist it and turn it to feed their inner desire.....the people have broken it into various branches like Pantheism,Nature worshipping,Wicca,spirit and all the kind of BS human mind can think of.

The pantheism group actually takes money to enroll you in their program and allow you to take trips along with various other members for exploring their spirituality.
There is a wiccan together group on ning.com..... that is a good one but it has actually nothing to do with wicca looks like its a website trying to gather numbers so that they can market their stats to advertisers and gain more money from advertising.

Nature worshippers are those people who go out on a good sunday morning in the woods with pretty girls and pretty guys and end up having sex there..........people like these can be interchangeably called nudists.

Spirit Channelers are more or less same as Abe or Ramtha channelers but here....surprise...surprise.....they have variety of entities....for e.g: IF you dont like the advice of a certain spirit which advised you on your horse bet and it turned out worse ...you have the right to change the spirit.....Now the channeler will have to change voice .

Pagan religion is vast but essentially polytheistic.....what is more worrysome is the fact that people bastardise facts to accomodate any figure they like ...from any culture ....in their cult/religion/whatever.do you know what am i taking about?.....check the joyofsatan website ....use a .com at the end.

Channelers or Fraud?

Hi everybody,
i have been researching further bit into this NRM and found that its just another tool to make a fool out of an individual .Just as this movement claims that it will satisfy a human's craving for the truth by using various knowledge it gets....it gets more pathetic.
This time i will laser target CHANNELERS...the biggest bullshiters of all.

1.The most famous channelers of all times has been JZ Knight ..the hot blonde who definetly has some ego and personality problems.
She believes that she channels a being called RAMTHA who was a soldier in ancient times in the land of Lemuria and now he lives in a different plane or dimension and he gives all the knowledge to her by possesing her but that too in a positive way. .....Lame..........

She behaves like a man when ramtha possess her...what i really hope that ramtha fucks her too.
her husband died years ago due to cancer which she claimed that she will cure him as Ramtha told her and that her husband doesnt need to go to a doctor but it didnt happen..............The cancer got worse and in retaliation her husband filed a lawsuit over her in which she lost but her husband wasnt there to take the claims......i dont know what happened later on.

2.Now the hicks..........the law of attaracters couple...
Now esther and jerry hicks are making real good money by saying to people that by only imagining the things of desire,they will manifest.....
They has been in the business of prosperity marketing for about 10 years or more.
This couple claims that they CHANNEL or get their knowlege by a group of extradimension beings called abraham......and that the being only gives info on prosperity in paid seminars......

need i say any more??????????....

Lightworkers?!!!...Old wine in new bottle?

just when i thought there is no god,evidences start to surface that there is something out there.
i am really sure that there is something out there but surely its not a long bearded guy with a stick or weapon (sword) in his hand nor a goddess with tight figure and sexy face.
The universe runs by rules ,it was shown by newton and einstein ,there is a powerful force behind us but its all scientific..i mean the force phenomenon can be explained scientifically.

so...i was talking about evidences..so a new cult or religion from new age has emerged called as starseeders or lightworkers..and that is just for the start ....these guys give themselves numerous......numerous names.....alderan.mechizedek..and what not.
they say we are from different stars and we need to go back or......we have to move towards next dimension............looks like they bought the old wine in new bottle.

Hinduism talks of reincarnation and then moving to the next level after death called as parlok,vedant,shivlok etc.(different dimensions....haha)
Islam tells us that on judgement day after judging one's soul on their Karma....they will be moved into hell and heaven.....(different levels ..huh?)
Christianity preaches that we have to believe in Jesus to go to heaven(next level)

and finally the icing on the cake...............................
Buddhism talks of meditation to remove one from cycle of reincarnation and achieve freedom of soul.

The new agers have capitalised on the age old concepts of moving into different levels as same thing for moving into different dimensions............which i think...... no matter how much you meditate you will never move through dimensions unless a wormhole has been created ......just like in geneva where the tunnel is not doing experiments for scientific study but infact its for time travelling and travelling to different galaxies.

damn new religions

hello fellow atheists ,
i did an extensive dig on new age religions like scientology,hare krsna,law of attraction and other old religions which have started to come out in new package.
i must say i was disgusted by all ..........scientology seems like its a comic book cult.....dianetics a technique used by sci-fi author ron hubbard to vent out past life's errors..that will MAKE your future life better (wow..what a BS).
hare krsna is not a cult but has grown into cult like culture.....what is more unbelievable.... is that you are only supposed to worship krsna day and night long.....(what the heck?)
law of attraction was started by australian network 9 in a form of tv series whcih has a huge following now ...mainly on internet and majority of the followers are women.....
alll i can say ....law of attraction is about being high on weeds.

hehehe...............
there's no such thing as magic ...........only coincidences.

To me the only god that exists on this planet is power,money and sex.

these three have been clubbed into one and called as God and religion,since god as all the power ,so he will have all the money and thats how chics dig it.

ok if god exists why is he unfair?i mean why does he/she/it gives more oppurtunities to someone dumber and arrogant than to someone more deserving?why?do you want to know ,i will tell you.

It's true that some guys are dumb but they are also smart enough to sense an oppurtunity and the guys who are really smart...... are really ....arrogant about opportunities so talent+oppurtunities=success.

so you see there is no god playing in this matter only humans and their basic management and understanding skills.

so start asking gods or god or goddesses some basic questions or some favours,maybe some whining may help you.

i took the following from a weblog,i think it is interesting

we should boycott the celebration of winter solstice as christmas because in reality its not anything to do with christ or x-mas trees,its gotta do with winter solstice.
every year on 22 december the sun makes it to its lowest point in the northern hemisphere and towards the south and it remains there for these three days 22,23 and 24 ,and on the 25th of december the sun moves one degree up symbolizing the resurrection of christ and spring time amd longer days.
this is the only reason the winter solstice is celebrated and in its parody christmas is celebrated.
christianity is a parody of sun worshiping religions.

i hate gods and their various godisms,very rare i have seen people who think rationally and without the thought of religion or using religion as a tool.
all the greats of our human history have atheists or people who were not very religious but good enough for social acceptance.
abraham lincoln is my favorite.
if god and his word is there why doesn't he broadcasts it through the sky? instead the being named god uses radio,television and what not imaginable to spread hate that it has in its heart.
i am talking about x-ianity and i-slam and hind-u-i-sms and all other religions whose breakup i will give you all in a matter of days.
These various religions take all our thinking knowledge away and fill us with false hopes about things that will never happen in future.nothing is there that can be fixed by it being named god,it's us,we humans ,we created our civilizations not god or gods and when things get out of hand we destroy it too.
we should take the affairs of our every day life from the hands of fictious characters and various other fictional mythologies and deal with it rationally like we do to our vices.
